Figma’s stock saw a strong boost on Monday, jumping 7% after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman highlighted the design software company’s new integration with ChatGPT during OpenAI’s annual DevDay conference in San Francisco. The announcement excited investors and designers alike, as it opens the door for seamless collaboration between one of the most popular design tools and the world’s leading AI assistant.

During his keynote, Altman demonstrated how Figma can now operate directly within ChatGPT. He explained that users can simply request ChatGPT to “turn this sketch into a workable diagram,” and Figma will automatically complete the task. This integration, powered by OpenAI’s new Apps SDK (Software Development Kit), allows ChatGPT users to run Figma tasks without leaving their conversations.

The announcement led to a strong rise in Figma’s stock, which climbed as much as 16%, the biggest jump since its market debut in July. Figma product manager Luke Zhang mentioned in a blog post that ChatGPT users can now call Figma by name or get automatic suggestions when working on design-related tasks.

Figma has been improving its tools to make app and website design easier and faster. This new partnership strengthens Figma’s position as one of the top platforms for creative and design work.

Altman added that users subscribed to products connected to OpenAI’s Apps SDK will soon be able to log in and use their accounts without exiting ChatGPT. Developers will also gain the opportunity to submit their apps for review later in 2025.
