Key Background :

As a response to the rising threat of cyber fraud and enhanced cases of financial and identity scams, Quick Heal Technologies Ltd. has launched a freemium version of its cybersecurity product, AntiFraud.AI. The new product is indicative of the company’s even larger mission of providing digital protection to all Indian citizens, irrespective of their economic status.

The release timing is noteworthy as well. With India grappling with digital incursions in relation to cross-border issues, particularly with Pakistan, citizens’ protection from cyber attacks is now a national imperative. The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) registered over ₹1,750 crore loss in cyber cheating in the first quarter of 2024 itself, with over 7.4 lakh cases being reported. Quick Heal’s freemium offering seeks to counter these mounting threats with proactive fraud detection and response capabilities to the masses.

AntiFraud.AI technology is unique in that it not only detects known malware but also concealed or undetectable malicious programs that run secretly in the background of mobile phones. Scammers typically use such stealth applications to spy on individuals, pilfer credentials, or misappropriate funds. In detecting such threats, the solution helps keep user privacy and financial information secure.

The freemium product features essential security features including Scam Protection, Fraud App Detector, Risk Profile Assessment, Call Forwarding Alerts, Payee Name Announcer, and Unauthorized Access Alerts. It also features utilities such as Fraud Protect Buddy that help users detect and manage risks.

Vishal Salvi, Quick Heal CEO, solidified the national responsibility of the company by asserting that digital safety is a right. This launch is an important milestone to close the cyber safety gap, empowering citizens with needed tools in a more connected and vulnerable digital environment.
