Key Background:

Indian-owned lab Tribal Diagnostics LLC opened the doors to its new 25,000-square-foot facility in Oklahoma City on April 14, 2025. The new facility allows the company to expand considerably its capacity to serve under-served communities and tribal health systems. The company has four locations with headquarters in Tulsa, where the building expanded from a 5,000-square-foot building to fit growing operations.

The expansion was supported by a July 2023 infusion of $3.2 million from Raven Indigenous Capital Partners. The money will allow the company to pursue new markets, build cutting-edge laboratory services, and hire additional staff. The business currently has over 1,000 lab tests in stock and is in-network with a number of carriers, including United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, and 23 Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, among a big list of Medicaid and Medicare plans.

Tribal Diagnostics has 28 tribal health systems that serve 697 healthcare clinics across the area. Tribal Diagnostics began operations in 2015 to address Native American communities’ health disparities, including higher levels of heart disease, diabetes, and substance abuse than at the national levels. U.S. Rep. Tom Cole, Chickasaw Nation citizen, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, speaking to the importance of lab services among the Native population with 5.5 years below the national life expectancy average. With its expansion through Tribal Diagnostics, medical outcomes for Native and non-Native communities alike will be most likely enhanced.
